About this tour
Four hours of eating on both sides of the Bosphorus, from börek in Karaköy to the market streets of Kadıköy, with a ferry ride in between. Plan it as your lunch.
- Eight to ten tastings on two continents
- Public ferry from Karaköy to Kadıköy
- Family-run stops, no tourist menus
- Groups of 10 at most
We start in Karaköy with börek, tea and a first plate of baklava, then take the public ferry across to Kadıköy, the way most people in Istanbul cross the water. On the Asian side the walk winds through the market streets around the fish stalls: pickles and their juice, stuffed mussels, lahmacun from a wood-fired oven, meze, and Turkish coffee to finish. The stops are family-run places we visit week after week, not restaurants set up for tours. Eight to ten tastings add up to a full lunch, so come hungry.
